Hi friends!
Happy Chocolate Day!
Don't tell me that it's late or weird as World Chocolate Day was on 7th of July.
Actually, there are several chocolate-themed days celebrated all round the year. National Confectioners Association in US celebrate International Chocolate Day on September 13th. In Latvia, World Chocolate Day is celebrated on July 11th. In Ghana (the second largest producer of Cocoa), it is celebrated on February 14th.
In my part of the world, that is to say in my home, it's today! He he he!
Actually, in India chocolate day is primarily celebrated on 9th February ...in a week long run-up to the Valentine's Day on 14th Feb. The series of Valentine Week celebration include Rose day, Propose day, Chocolate day, Promise day, Hug day, Kiss day and then Valentine's day at last. These days are more inclined towards a romantic celebration among lovers.
But today, on my chocolate day, anyone can celebrate with a chocolate :)
Actually, in my childhood, I was a fan of toffees and I'd chew and bite into several varieties of toffees through out the day. But in later years I almost forgot that sweet hobby. So this year I decided to re-start my sweet hobby and this time I decided to munch on several varieties of chocolates.
But unfortunately, I found out that there ain't any chocolates on sale in my city. The only one dark chocolate I could get here is actually one heavy and tough bar that is meant as a raw material for making chocolates.
For some time, I was regularly eating those hard and huge chocolate bars from Morde's. But they contain too much sugar and palm oil. I didn't like it much but was still consuming it to keep my resolve. Isn't that strange?
Some days back, one of my friends, who was volunteering at an animal shelter in Himachal Pradesh, posted a lot of praise for some vegan chocolates made by a person there. I immediately got in his touch and got to know that he prepares 4 types of chocolates. I told him to send me all those 4 varieties. I also conveyed my hesitation in consuming palm-oil and sugar. So he said he will be using less sugar.
And today, I got my parcel with all those mouth-watering varieties:
Obviously I couldn't resist to consume these immediately. My parents also joined in to enjoy these chocolates. So practically, it was a chocolate day for me.
Let the world celebrate their World Chocolate Day whenever they wish but for me it was the day! 😊
