Steemonboarding Is Now Live But When Will It Come To India?

It's an amazing news that Steem onboarding project went live this week. Thanks to all @steemonboarding team members and their supporters!

This was a much needed project. Although I haven't helped onboarding many people to Steem but I faced the hassles and repercussions when I tried it initially. It wasn't as easy as dropping the website address and asking them to log in.

I had to spend a couple of hours in introductory session for making them join Steem and the world of cryptocurrency. And it won't get over with it. In fact, I'd need to spend regular consultation time to help them feel at ease with the platform and find their way ahead in the vast Steem ocean. And repeat this with every new addition!

All these at a time when I myself was struggling to keep up with this platform, its various communities, different tools ...and simultaneously trying to understand blockchain technology. Sometimes it felt like a punishment for onboarding new users here. Therefore I stopped recommending this platform to anyone unless I felt he or she can understand on her own.

Does this sound familiar to you too?

Now I feel @steemonboarding can solve all these problems. We just need to pass a link to its website and the new user should be ready to jump in after watching a few short educating videos. Unfortunately, I find Steem onboarding website is still not ready for Indians.

When India? When Hindi? When Bengali?

The project is live with videos in 10 languages. I was expecting Hindi to be one of these 10 languages. But to my utter disappointment, it was missing on its list. I don't know why!

Only following languages were included at this time:

Hindi is third most popular language of the world after Mandarin (Chinese) & English. Bengali is other language from the subcontinent that is one of the ten most widely spoken languages in the world. I wonder why these languages were not included among the 10 languages.

Apart from Hindi and Bengali, regional Indian languages like Punjabi and Telugu have over 100 million speakers. Can anyone ignore these figures?

Will all these languages be included in the list of 10 languages that this project plans to add soon? If not, I'd say, Indian market is being excluded from the onboarding and marketing campaign of @steemonboarding project.

Content creation in Indian languages is lacking on Steem blockchain. This can never help reach mass audience or participation in Steem ecosystem in India.

I'd like to get these languages included in this project at the earliest.

  • Do you think including Indian languages help Indian community to participate in Steem ecosystem?
