This is Why I Don't Use BRAVE Browser
Since several SCOT bot based front-ends started mushrooming up recently, and especially after the large claimdrops and airdrops of tokens like PAL and LEO, many Steemians (including me) are confused to find a way to make optimal use of these platforms.
The problem is that all tokens like PAL, LEO, WEED, APX (soon to happen), SCT, WEED, etc. have accumulated in the same Steem wallet that we used to write our regular Steem blogs from. And because all these new front-ends are just another Nitrous instances of Steemit using SCOT bot to issue and transfer Steem-Engine tokens, the fundamental problem we encounter is issuance of multiple tokens with a single upvote from us.
Therefore, whether we want it or not, if we had staked all these tokens along with our SP in the same Steem account, we can't make complete use of our Voting Power of SCOT tokens. E.g. If I have staked a lot of LEO tokens issued by SteemLeo, which is an investment related front-end, I'll like to curate by upvoting investment related posts that use #steemleo tag. And this will consume my LEO voting Power. But since, by default, I'm simultaneously voting with my SP too, it will also consume my Steem VP. And aside curating these posts, I also curate posts on Steem as usual that are not using #steemleo tag. But this will deplete my VP on Steem platform. This breaks the equation as I've higher VP on LEO and lower VP on Steem.
Thus LEO will take lesser time to get to 100% VP and if I wait until my Steem VP also get to 100% before my next vote, my LEO VP will sit idle @100% for that time. What can we do to avoid this loss?
Commonsense measure is to give priority to the community which we think carries (or will confer) the maximum value to our tokens at the time we want to encash those and focus all our attention to reap the maximum curation reward through our activity in that particular community.
A better option I prefer is to maintain a lower Voting Power on Steem like say below 70% or below 30% so that it will never reach to 100% VP again. Now you can focus on maintaining a VP above 80% on LEO while voting on other posts will deplete a proportionately lower percentage of our VP on Steem. This way you won't lose any VP either in LEO or in Steem. But many people won't like this idea as it decreases your vote value, so you need to make higher number of votes compared to when your VP was on a higher level.
Create an alternative account. Transfer all your LEO tokens to that account and stake them there. You can delegate 2-5 SP to this account for required RC. Now you can use this account solely for curating SteemLeo posts while your main account do all other things as usual.
Similarly, create a different account to stake PAL, WEED, APX etc. if you hold significant amount of these tokens and have interest to curate in these communities too.
Unfortunately, these different front-ends ain't capable to provide us with multiple VP strength sliders to adjust our VP for all tokens at the time of casting any vote. I think this is a major limitation and only SMT can address it when it's launched. Until then, operating multiple Steem accounts is the only solution that would work best in this scenario. Fortunately, managing multiple accounts has been made easy with dapps like eSteem and SteemPeak, so it shouldn't be a big problem.
But I'd like to know if you have any better solution to this problem?
How are you guys managing your Voting Power while participating in various SCOT based communities?
