Vivisection of live animals for performing experiments or scientific studies is one of the most heinous crimes against animals.
Many students practicing non-violence in India had to opt out of the Science classes sue to the mandatory practice of vivisection. Taking note of this problem, a Chennai based non-profit Blue Cross of India developed a software to simulate the dissection process virtually. This was a success and was adopted my many institutions.
About 5 years back, India banned the practice of animal testing in all cosmetics products and even stopped importing cosmetic products tested on animals.
In an amazing news this week, a school in USA namely J.W. Mitchell High School became the first school on the world to use synthetic frogs for the purpose of vivisection instead of live frogs.
These frogs called SynFrogs are developoed by Syndaver with the help of some funding from PeTA.
The synthetic tissues for these realistic frogs is made of fiber, salt and water. The human and animal models developed by the company can be used for education, surgical simulations and medical device testings. Costing just $150 per frog, these frogs are reusable too.
