Noticed Any Difference Between Steemit, Facebook & Google Outages?

Did you notice the outages in the apps and websites of major internet companies like Facebook, Google & Apple ...and of course Steemit?

(In fact, to coincide some technical glitch at Steemit with major players is a desirable strategy, so that the name of Steemit can be taken with Facebook, Google and Apple in the same breath 😜)

But it was a real disaster and a Black Week for social media. Services by all major tech providers like Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos & Docs, YouTube, iCloud's Drive, Contacts, Calendar, Mail,News, Backup, Notes, Reminders etc. all suffered this week ...including Steemit.

This is a huge concern when almost all world is connected through these handful of giant corporates.

Everyone has got their own issues. While Facebook denied of any DDOS attack on its servers and intimated the cause to be “server configuration change”; Steemit disclosed the existence of a DDoS attack against steemit.com for the intermittent outage.

Google and Apple haven't conveyed the cause of outage but they have probably figured it out as services are back to normal now.

But I noticed a difference in the way they communicated.

An update was made on Instagram:

Oh boy! But how to ge that when Instagram itself was inaccessible?

Here, Steemit had an advantage. It updated about the satus on Steem blockchain. So even if Steemit was inaccessible, the post was accessible through its various other dapps

Steemit had also tweeted about it:

Of course, Facebook too had used its Twitter account for communication:

  • But shouldn't Facebook should have an account on Steem blockchain to communiccate with their audience during such emergencies?
  • Ditto for other social media companies?
