Indian Government Wanna Use Blockchain to Improve School Quality

Indian Information Technology Minister Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad stated this at an inauguration function of a blockchain technology center of excellence, set up by NIC in Bengaluru, this week.

Minister tasked the National Informatics Centre (NIC) with developing a blockchain-based solution for improving the quality of government schools. He said the following:

I am very keen how we can leverage blockchain in primary education. In fact today I am going to give you a task, NIC team. Can you think of a good application of blockchain technology for improving the quality of government schools all over the country?

He also expressed his desire that NIC and local State authorities should open up doors for startups in blockchain technology working under defined norms. He said that emerging blockchain technology can be used in various fields like governance, treasury management, excise operations, agriculture, health, primary education etc.

The Centre of Excellence will help government departments to build this technological solutions for them for a large scale deployment.

This statement from IT minister comes at a time when the case against the RBI's nationwide banking ban on cryptocurrency is still being heard in Supreme Courts.
