Can there ever be a single Universal Language?

As humanity evolved in several isolated parts of this world through thousands of years, several languages, cultures and belief systems came into existence. But with the development of transport & communication technology, world is increasingly getting smaller and all human population is tending to merge into a single tribe. That's how a global village may come into existence!

But before we get there, we need to overcome tons of challenges.

Yesterday, it was World Hindi Day. For decades India is observing a National Hindi Day in September but that was limited to promote Hindi language among residents of India. 14 years back, a new day known as World Hindi Day was founded to propagate Hindi language all over the world.

This brings me to the question, what as a humanity we want to attain!

Diversity of culture, language and religion is the beauty of this world but of course, unity of humanity makes the civilization more efficient and easier to assimilate.

But can there ever be one language, one culture and one religion across the world? Religious people want to propagate their own religion and belief system across the world. Similarly, language proponent wants to establish their language all across the humanity.

The difficulty is that everyone here thinks his own language, beliefs, thoughts & philosophies are the best in the world!

Can there ever be peace in diversity?
More importantly, can there be peace in unity or uniformity?

Wouldn't uniformity be too boring? After a period of uniformity, we'll again crave for some variations and start creating different ways of communicating or living among a closed tribe.

Therefore, the best thing would be to learn to live peacefully in diversity.
All these sound good in words but how can it be laid in practice is the question.
